What Vitamin are you Missing?


Vitamin J. It’s the vitamin that is missing in most American diets.

Haven’t heard of it? Can’t find it at the health food store? That’s because it’s only found within you. Vitamin J is Vitamin Joy.

When we don’t get enough joy in our lives, it’s easy to turn to food to fill us up.

It’s true we can get joy from our food. It’s the amount of joy from food that we get that we need to take a look at. If you notice that the majority of your joy is coming from food, that is a sign that you are out of balance with other areas of your life that need nurturing. The 10% rule works well here. If more than 10% of your total joy in life is coming from food, that may be a sign that you need to give more attention to other areas in your life; such as your relationships, spirituality, mindset, career, finances, and purpose.

We put money in our 401(k)s. We take calcium supplements. We exercise. We hope these precautions will protect us as we age. But as we safeguard our money, bones and blood pressure, we forget to safeguard the one thing that can make a difference in the quality of our lives as we get older: our happiness.

Consider when the last time was that you had FUN. You know, time when you laughed until you cried. You weren’t reading something to be productive, or multitasking in any way...just real, honest to goodness, cell phone off, away from the world, FUN. If you’re like most people, it probably hasn’t happened recently. We all have so much going on in our lives that we forget to have FUN and live in JOY.

Don’t be afraid to create an abundance of joy in your life. It’s easy to serve it up with a side dish of guilt, but let’s get rid of the guilt part and overload on the joy part. You deserve joy in your life, no matter what path you have been on. Start by finding just a few areas where you can experience more joy…because you deserve it!
